Bonsai in Korea

by on October 28, 2011

Bonsai is really  two words, “Bon”, and “Sai”. The word “Bon” means “tray” and “Sai”, “growing” or “planting”. Therefore, the two words put together stand for  “tray growing” or “tray planting”. When you say the word, “Bonsai” to people, they usually think of a type of tree. However, this art form is  actually  a  way  of  growing  many different species of plants and trees. Below are some Bonsai I saw on October  26th, in the Jeju Island Airport.

Bonsai at the Jeju Airport.

Especially the ones that bear fruit look odd. The fruit are not smaller than usual.

Small tree, big fruit.

Here is the one that I liked the best.

Blowing in the wind.

Finally see this one, with Jeju in the background.

Dreaming of Jeju.
