Seoulin Biosciences and MicroDigital, Korea Bio Park

by on October 7, 2011

On Wed Oct 5, 2011 I visited Seoulin Biosciences (SLB at http://www.seoulin.co.kr a small KOSDAQ company) with Prof Unchung Cho from Korea Polytechnic University (KPU) and met the new CTO, Dr. Jong-Cheol Ahn and Hyun-Jik Oh, Life Science Research Manager.

Dr Ahn has an ambitious goal to help establish a strong foundation for biotechnology R&D in Korea. Seoulin Biosciences manufactures basic equipment for bio research. They develop reagents under the brand name MyLab. Dr. Ahn is now adding a strong BIOMEMS component to the company and is working in this respect together with MicroDigital, with CEO/CTO Jay K. Kim and director Hyun Kim. Microdigital’s technology includes optical detection instruments such as a luminometer, bioreactors for mammalian cell culture and human tissue culture and a very neat medical sample packaging technique. The company also has a biochip foundry service center and they have several interesting BIOMEMS projects lined up. The companies are both located in Korea Bio Park (Bundang-gu).
We had a nice dinner at the Convino restaurant.
