Korea Polytechnic University (KPU), Seoul, Korea.

by on October 7, 2011

In the afternoon of Thursday Oct 6, 2011 I visited Korea Polytechnic University (KPU) with Prof. Unchung Cho (Mechanical Engineering, RPI). I gave a 2 hour lecture to undergraduate students on Bioengineering and Biomimetics and had a facility tour. Some researchers of Seoulin Bioscience also attended (including CTO Dr. Ahn). Korea Polytechnic University is nestled amid Seoul’s major industrial parks. The university is building bridges with small and mid-size companies in that local area. For a small University the equipment is very impressive, I have not seen quite this type of University in the US. Very applied and totally dedicated to the local industry. There was also an impressive KPU Exhibition with products developed by students and partner companies. This way one can expect manufacturing to survive longer in Korea than it did in the US. In the evening I had dinner with Unchung Cho, his inquisitive son (Alex) and his wife.

This always feels good. Signing a book for an appreciative reader.
